They finished up yesterday doing the outside (photos from the weekend).

The bricks took under 2 weeks to do and the roof took a day! Mind you that’s including the day they didn’t work due to shocking weather.

So we’re now at lock-up! Next is making the inside look like a house. Not sure of what timeframe to expect for that, and since we won’t be able to get in, we’ll be spying through the windows.

More progress towards getting that roof on. They did the gutters and the green wrap last week and blue bits on the roof today.

And no, that’s not a balcony, just some safety stuff to stop the builders from falling off.

I think we’ve made the last of our post contract changes too- we’ve just ordered a glass splashback for the kitchen and an extra TV and power point. The rest of the changes were things like changes door, added a gas point to outside- nothing major, just things we wanted right.

well I thought they’d be need to put a roof on, but it turns out there are other plumbing bits and pieces that need to happen first (who knew?)

Me and kids went and did some further inspections this afternoon. All looks good and they fixed the plumbing mishap of having the ensuite stuff in the bedroom.

these went in last week and was about the only action that happened. Next is the roof and the gutters. Nothing’s been delivered today, so not sure when that’s going to happenn. After that its bricks…

They’ve just about finished the frame- only took 2 days but there were about 7 guys working on it.

After speaking with the builder yesterday, he said the frame wouldn’t be going up until next week though Dan & Ollie saw a heap of stuff being delivered yesterday arvo. So it was a great surprise to find almost most of the house (apart from the roof) framed today.

There is a slight mishap with some of the ensuite plumbing appearing in bedroom 2… pictures to follow once we find our camera.

We’ve got our slab- a very good thing to have when you’re building a house. I’m yet to go and inspect it close up but Mum and Dad checked it out yesterday- I learnt that mum finally rebelled against her morals and indulged in a bit of reckless graffiti and carved a K somewhere in the slab- turns out you won’t even see it once the house is builts so her rebellion is very temporary. On ya mum!

Dad and Ollie checked it out today and got some photos. I think they’re becomibg my site managers, just keeping an eye on things. As long as they don’t send me a billl too…

It looks very big and makes the little bit of vacant land seem very tiny indeed. I’m sure it will change again once the walls go up.

The frame should go up some time next week- yay!

Lots of progress

Those builders have been very busy work on our new number 7. In the last week or so there’s been a range of people down there (that’s a guess, haven’t actually seen many of them).

They’ve scraped the block, measured it all out, put the plumming in and today started the preparations so the concrete can be poured for the slab. Again, guessing this will happen tomorrow or the day after.

Once that’s done, they can put the frame up and our builder told us that would only take around 3 days. I suppose they need to let the slab set properly before the start on the next bit so maybe action will slow down this week.

Went to visit the display home on the weekend, just to get ourselves a bit more excited- it worked of course and we practised a few round of hide and seek. Think we’ve picked just the right house!

Who knew you could get so excited over a bit of escavation? Looks like they must have done this yesterday. As we went passed f(or a second time) today, there was a guy putting some stakes in the ground. Not sure what they’re for but perhaps the plummers might turn up tomorrow.
